The first major research project we have undertaken revolves around utilizing the space in between the jatropha rows. What had initially begun as intercropping research now has developed into a large, commercial biodiesel feedstock oil farming CO-OP. Since they are 90 day crops farmers can expect multiple harvests per year in significant oil yields per acre through these proven low input crops. The same processing, planting and harvesting equipment is used for these crops and their input cost is low. We have experimented with multiple crops and plantation designs in order to

come up with our present rotation of intercrops. These crops provide us with early returns in our business models, as well as provide us with almost an almost immediate source of onsite Biodiesel for the farming operation. USCJO will continue to work closely with the State Universities and international scientists as well as our fellow farmers. We are heavily involved in multiple studies with these groups involving pest tolerance, cold tolerance, cloning and oil yield research to name just a few. Our oil seed farming CO-OP is always ready to educate and assist new members.
